Changes to the New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 3)

Kia ora

We are emailing you because you have one or more learners enrolled in the New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 3). This programme has been updated to reflect changes to the qualification of the same name: New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 3).

The current version of this programme (version 1) expires on 31 December 2022. All training agreements received from 13 December 2022 will be enrolled into version 2.

Learners who haven't completed version 1 will be rolled over into version 2 to continue with their programme. However, it is advised that any current assessments that learners are working on need to be completed, assessed and reported to Careerforce by 11 December 2022.

Changes to Youth Work (Level 3):
  • The average duration of 8 months still applies. However, the credit value has changed from 44-45 credits to 42-44 credits and there are changes to some unit standards.
  • When learners are rolled over into version 2, they will also bring across any unit standards already achieved that apply to version 2 of the programme. Learners will also need to select one of two new elective unit standards in version 2 (see table below):

*Learners who are being rolled over into version 2 of the programme will need to choose one of these elective unit standards to complete. Your Careerforce Workplace Advisor will be in contact with you to discuss these options.

Learning resources and assessments for version 2 will be available on the Careerforce Resource Library (via iportal) as soon as possible.

We are also contacting learners to advise them of these changes. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact your Careerforce Workplace Advisor.
Ngā mihi,
The team at Careerforce
